Audi e-tron Goes the Distance for Southern California Travel

Audi e-tron is the Four Rings' first-ever all-electric SUV, released just recently, and it's already getting a lot of buzz for its abilities to go more than the extra mile. It's no everyday economizer of fuel, either: given its abilities and resourcefulness, your prospects for exploring SoCal are as wide as the horizon. Take a look at the specs with us here at Audi Temecula.

For instance, Audi e-tron can achieve a driving range of up to 54 miles on not much more than a 10-minute charge. That puts tasting at Wilson Creek Winery, for one, on your radar; that local favorite's only 12 or 13 miles at most from our dealership, across Rancho California Road. Ditto for going to the farmers market and checking out all the specialty shops in Old Town Temecula. The area's only about 10 minutes south of us, down the Temecula Valley Freeway.

But it's thanks to its huge cruising range, estimated by the EPA at 204 miles, that you can truly go places. Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the works of Van Gogh, Monet, and Cezanne at the Getty Center in Los Angeles, but the trip was just too far away to incentivize the gas expense? With a new Audi e-tron, you can, while enjoying breathtaking views from its gardens: it's only about 100 miles away via CA-91 East and I-15 South. With what's left in your metaphorical tank, you'll even have the opportunity to charge up again before hitting the road back to Temecula.

Decide to head south to San Diego to experience a piece of military history at the USS Midway Museum, and you'll find Audi e-tron makes it even easier. That venue's only about 60 miles away via I-15 North. You'd have plenty of juice to get back to Temecula with range to spare.

But say you wanted to go as far as possible, assuming a buffer zone of sufficient mileage across which to recharge at least once. How far can Audi e-tron theoretically go? This ought to get your engines revving: Surfers Point at Seaside Park, on Shoreline Drive in Ventura CA, is just over 160 miles away, well within the SUV's total cruising range. You'll need to replenish your battery to get home again, but that's easy. You can get around 80% of a charge in 30 minutes or so using available 150-kW DC fast charging. If you're at home out of energy, on the other hand, and you've got an optional home charging capsule and an everyday 240-volt/50-amp outlet, you can fully charge and be ready to head back to the beach in about 9 hours.

Best of all, you can enjoy 1,000 kilowatt-hours of charging free for the first four years you own a new Audi e-tron. Plus, you can charge it at one of the 16,000+ Electrify America fast-charging stations dotting the US's many travel destinations, and solar and wind energy sources are available when you service with renewable energy utilities like Arcadia Power. No need to buy additional equipment or have any installed.

Ready to check out Audi e-tron to see what it can bring to your adventures? Visit our dealership here at 40955 Temecula Center Drive in Temecula. We'll take you out for a test drive and introduce you to all a new electric SUV can do!
